William Sadler - Musical Resume

Commonly known as BJ or Bill to his peers, he is the saxaholic of SNAP. Born in 1986, Bill attends Rowan University and hopes to delve into the music business world and eventually run an independent music store.

He started his musical career at the age of 13 when he first picked up the alto saxophone. It was a rough beginning, but at the age of 16 he fell in love with music and started to become very serious in his playing. He attended Interboro High School, where he played in the jazz, concert, and marching bands. He performed at the highest rankings in these bands, from lead alto in the jazz band, to 1st chair in concert band, to sectional leader in marching band. He also performed in a jazz combo during his high school years. In the summer of 2003, this saxaholic participated in the esteemed Delaware County High School All-Star Big Band. This group consisted of the best young jazz musicians in the county. Bill took the role as lead alto saxophone, and was also a noted soloist in the ensemble.

Bill has studied under Delaware County local saxophone guru, Steve Selfridge. He has also studied extensively with Denis DiBlasio, Tony Salicandro, John Guida, Dr. Rick Dammers, and Dr. Robert Rawlins. He has also attended Master Classes held by Ron Carter, Clark Terry, Dr. Keith Javers, Eric Master, Terrell Stafford, and Joe Scanella amongst other professional musicians. Bill is also a columnist for a world famous saxophone website, as well as a columnist for TEMPO magazine for New Jersey band directors.

The most noted aspect of his playing, remarks Bill, is his versatility.. "I love being able to play soft and sweet for the ballads...but at a moment's notice, I can scream out a Rock&Roll solo. I think my versatility is my strongest trait as a player."

Bill's influences include Paul Desmond, Lee Konitz, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, and Gerry Mulligan.
