Garret Travis (aka Garrett Travis and Gerrit Treffers) was born circa 1635 in Westchester County, New York. To put the year 1635 into perspective, Henry Hudson discovered Manhattan on September 11, 1609, and that same year was the first European to sail up the Hudson river.
